How to Compress Images for Email Without Losing Quality

Email providers limit attachment sizes — often to 10–25 MB. A few high-resolution photos can blow past that in seconds. Here's how to compress images the right way.

Choose the right format

JPEG is best for photographs. PNG is better for graphics with text or transparency. WebP offers the best compression but isn't supported by all email clients. Our Image Compressor outputs universally compatible JPEG.

Find the quality sweet spot

Quality around 80% is usually invisible to the human eye but can reduce file size by 60–80%. Our tool lets you preview the result live and adjust the quality slider before downloading.

Resize if needed

A 4000×3000 pixel photo is overkill for email. Most screens display images at much lower resolution. Consider resizing to 1920px on the longest edge before compressing.

Strip metadata first
